About
I am a writer, speaker, performer, theatre publicist, and homemaker. I graduated from Regent College (Vancouver, British Columbia), where I studied Christianity and literature and Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota where I studied music performance, English, and theatre. Currently, I spend most of my time caring for my family, but I do work on special writing projects, speak at workshops, and serve as a biblical storyteller at my church in addition to working part-time outside the home. (My time within the home is also spent working.)
I have been a contributor to Gifted for Leadership, Catapult Magazine, and various resources for Christianity Today International. This blog was originally a food blog, but I have moved that content over to Adventures in Mundane Delight. So, if you’re checking for fun, seasonal recipes, visit that site, please!
I live in Michigan with my husband. We have a two-year-old daughter (pictured above) and are expecting another child later this fall.

Finally made time to check out your blog. I am new to really concentrating on what food my family consumes, which is difficult at best to manage these days, and will be trying some of your healthy recipes. Hopefully, the food will turn out edible. Not being a very good cook, this is always questionable, but alas I am trying to re-learn.
Hi Joy–it is wonderful to have found you and your blog as I was trying to find you on facebook. Lovely picture of your family and hope you have been well. Many blessings to you and have missed you!
Hi, I was referred by Wendy of The Local Cook. I am looking into possibly starting up a Michigan Food Bloggers group for networking, etc. If you’re interested, please email me and I’ll send you more information. I can’t find your email address anywhere here. Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you!
Love your blog! Would you like to join our group – the Michigan Lady Food bloggers? Here’s more info about it: http://motherskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/11/michigan-lady-food-bloggers.html
