Favorite Cookbooks

I have a collection of cookbooks. Some are read only to amuse (The Nancy Drew Cookbook, anyone?) but others have great recipes–and even greater philosophies of food, stewardship, and the gift of eating.

From Asparagus to Zucchini: A Guide to Gooking Farm-Fresh Seasonal Produce. Madison: Jones Books, 2004

Greene, Bert. Greene on Greens & Grains. New York: Ten Press, 1984, 1988. (Note: This book is out of print and may not be available for purchase from Powell’s.)

Lind, Mary Beth and Cathleen Hockman-Wert. Simply in Season. Scottdale, PA: Herald Press, 2005.

Peterson, Farmer John and Angelic Organics. Farmer John’s Cookbook: The Real Dirt on Vegetables. Salt Lake City: Gibbs Smith, 2006.

Robertson, Laurel. The Laurel’s Kitchen Bread Book: A Guide to Whole-Grain Breadmaking. New York: Random House, 1984.

Waters, Alice. The Art of Simple Food. New York: Clarkson Potter, 2007.
